CineGlobe International Film Festival

CineGlobe Estival Presents: projections under the starry sky and a circus of games with a neuroscience twist!

The festival will include an open-air cinema, film projections in the Globe of Science and Innovation at CERN, the interactive Emotional Circus (carnival-inspired games played with just the participant’s brainwaves) and a special sci-fi edition of the 48 Hour Film Project. The full program will target people of all ages with fun and informative activities such as children’s films in the Minima Cinema, and a workshop on the creation of a pinhole camera with an old Tetra-Pak milk carton.

The 6th edition of CineGlobe International Film Festival at CERN will take place exceptionally during the first week of July 2016 (on the Globe grounds at CERN, from Wednesday 6 to Friday 8 July) and then during the Nuit de la Science (at the Museum of the History of Science, on July 9 and 10).

At the Emotional Circus (invented by the artist and filmmaker Brent Hoff and by the roboticist Alex Reben), contestants of all ages can don specially designed machine-brain interfaces and challenge themselves, and others, in fun contests to see who can feel the most! Participants can fill balloons with bliss, race cars with rage, partake in the world’s first oxytocin-measuring kissing contest! Win fancy prizes just by repressing your desire to win fancy prizes!

The projections will feature both collections of short films and features, such as SCREENAGERS, which probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including the director's own, and depicts messy struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction.

In addition, from 1st to 3rd July, CineGlobe will host a special edition of the 48 Hour Film Project – dedicated to Science Fiction – at CERN. The filmmakers will compete to create the best short science fiction in just 48 hours. All the movies from the Science Fiction contest will be projected during CineGlobe Estival.

CineGlobe is also partnering with the Ciné-ONU programme of the United Nations, who will help guest program the evening feature-film screenings.

The full agenda includes lunchtime projections at the Globe, evening projections in open air, the Emotional Circus, workshops and food trucks.

The programme is available both in English and French, and is free and open to all.
