The Globe of Science and Innovation and its permanent exhibition Universe of particles will be closed to the public until the end of March 2016 for large-scale maintenance work. The renovation project will replace a number of ageing components.
A fully modernized Microcosm exhibition will reopen its doors to the public in July.

About the Globe of Science and Innovation
Originally designed by Genevan architects Thomas Büchi and Hervé Dessimoz for the 2002 Swiss national exhibition in Neuchâtel (Expo’02), the Globe of Science and Innovation quickly became a symbol of CERN. It hosted its first official visitors on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Laboratory. Since then, it has become THE venue for meetings and interactions between CERN and the general public, mainly thanks to its exhibition Universe of Particles.
About the Microcosm
Also located on CERN site, the brand new exhibition Microcosm will reopen its doors in July. Entirely renewed, it will bring the visitors into the everyday life of the people working at CERN and will even allow them to be in control (virtually!) of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
