Hubert Curien elected President of CERN Council

The CERN Council, where the representatives of the 17 Member States of the Organization* decide on CERN's scientific programmes and financial resources, held its 97th Session on June 25 under the chairmanship of Sir William Mitchell (United Kingdom).

Press release: France at CERN

Geneva, 1 April 1993. From 30 March to 2 April, forty-five French companies will be taking part in an industrial exhibition where they will be featuring their products in areas of direct interest to the researchers, engineers and technicians at CERN1, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics. The exhibition, organized by France's Ministry for Research and Space Affairs and the French Committee for Foreign Trade Exhibitions, will be visited on 1 April by Jean-Michel Yolin, the Ministry's Director for Innovation, Technology and Regional Development.

Press release: Carlo Rubbia called in to advise EC on scientific research

Geneva, 15 March 1993. Professor Antonio RUBERTI, the new EC Commissioner for Research and Educational Policies and former Minister for Universities and Research in the Italian government, has called in three internationally renowned European scientists to advise him on the direction to be taken by the Community research policy.

Press release: CERN and the UN Embargo against Serbia and Montenegro

Geneva, 27 February 1993. CERN1 , the European Laboratory of Particle Physics, in reply to questions raised by the media would like to clarify its position with regard to the resolution No 757 of the U.N. Security Council of 30 May 1992 imposing an embargo on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro). This position was adopted immediately after the embargo was announced.
